The CEO of Eric Many Records, Dilly Umenyiora, confirmed in a statement on Saturday the successful release of Gnewzy from the kidnapper’s den.

Umenyiora revealed that a substantial ransom was paid to secure the artiste’s freedom, underscoring Eric Many Records’ commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of their artists and personnel.

While applauding the efforts of law enforcement in facilitating Gnewzy’s release, Umenyiora candidly addressed notable shortcomings in the handling of the situation, citing several irregularities that surfaced during the ordeal.

Despite the considerable ransom paid, Umenyiora voiced strong dissatisfaction with what he described as insufficient police response and support, highlighting a pressing need for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness in managing and resolving such critical incidents in the future.

Gnewzy was abducted along Eklat road in Ughelli, Delta state while heading home from a show.

The artiste’s music label confirmed the abduction, saying Obas9ice, his manager, “narrowly escaped”.

The abductors were said to have contacted Dilly Umenyiora, the record label’s CEO, via mail demanding a $200,000 ransom.

Gnewzy’s mum, in video, was seen crying and appealing to his son’s abductors to free him.

The woman lamented that the singer is her only son and should not be hurt.
