The Super Eagles are just four points away from the top spot following wins by Rwanda and South Africa

In Group C of the 2026 World Cup qualifying series in the African zone, Nigeria finds itself trailing by only four points from the leading position.

The Super Eagles faced an unexpected 2-1 loss to Benin Republic on Monday, leaving them with just three points after playing four matches.

Unfortunately, their hopes of securing a spot in the tournament took a hit with further setbacks on Tuesday.

This was caused by South Africa’s impressive 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe and Rwanda’s narrow 1-0 win against Lesotho.

Following these outcomes, Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin are all sitting at the top with seven points each, sharing the lead.

Lesotho is in fourth place with five points, while Nigeria occupies the fifth spot with three points.
