Presidency: Tinubu unfazed by Atiku and Obi’s maneuvers

In response to the political moves of 2023 presidential aspirants Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the PDP and LP respectively, the presidency conveyed that President Bola Tinubu remains unperturbed.

Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on information and strategy, emphasized that the President’s focus is on revitalizing the country’s economy rather than being preoccupied with the political games of Atiku and Obi.

Onanuga’s remarks came amidst speculations of a potential collaboration between Atiku and Obi. Recently, Obi held discussions with Atiku, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and PDP stalwart Sule Lamido.

In an interview with BBC Hausa, Atiku hinted at the possibility of stepping aside for the former Anambra State governor in the 2027 presidential election.

However, speaking in Abuja on Saturday, Onanuga commented, stating: “We are taken aback by their scheming shortly after losing an election. Their actions reflect a sense of sour grapes.”

He continued, “We are indifferent to their political maneuvers, which only expose their narrow-mindedness. They are typical politicians consumed by thoughts of the next election.”

“President Tinubu embodies true statesmanship, prioritizing the fulfillment of promises to the Nigerian people,” Onanuga added.

“Currently, he is fully engaged in the task of revamping our country’s economy, laying the groundwork that should have been established decades ago.”
