Official Warning Issued to Ekiti State Public Servants Regarding Damage to Government Property

A strict warning has been issued to public officials in Ekiti State cautioning them against the intentional or negligent damage of public assets.

Officials have been urged to take responsible care of office furniture, equipment, vehicles, and other government belongings under their supervision.

Dr. John Ekundayo, the Director General of the Ekiti State Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, delivered this message during a verification tour of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Ado Ekiti. The purpose of the tour is to assess the condition of work environments and preemptively address inefficiencies to enhance service delivery.

Ekundayo highlighted that the objective of the exercise is to ensure that all MDAs align with the six strategic pillars of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration. He reiterated the government’s dedication to providing conducive work settings, having invested significantly in essential facilities such as utility vehicles, office spaces, and furniture to facilitate smooth governance processes. He urged users to protect and utilize these resources responsibly.

He emphasized that due to resource constraints, not all requests can be immediately fulfilled, and MDAs must devise strategies to prevent wastage as any careless or intentional destruction of public assets will not be tolerated.

Expressing disappointment at the neglectful attitude of some public officers towards government property and tools, Ekundayo advised officials to treat these resources as if they were their own.

The Oyebanji administration remains committed to fostering an employee-friendly environment in the state to ensure maximum productivity. Necessary support will continue to be provided to drive the administration’s success.
