Manchester United was the pinnacle of my career, says Odion Ighalo

Jude Odion Ighalo, the forward for the Super Eagles, has labeled his time at Manchester United in the English Premier League as the most significant moment of his career.

The striker for Al-Wehda expressed how playing at Old Trafford was a realization of a lifelong dream.

He shared that despite facing numerous challenges, his transfer to the club happened almost magically.

Speaking to Oma Sports TV, he said, “Dreams don’t always come true, but in the case of playing for Man U, mine did.”

“I have been a fan of Manchester United since my youth. I used to watch their games at viewing centers, and I would feel heartbroken if they lost. Thus, stepping onto the pitch at Old Trafford was an enormous dream fulfilled. It’s a source of pride for me to be the first and only Nigerian to don their jersey.”.

“The alignment of events leading to my move to Manchester United couldn’t have been anticipated. I was in my thirties, playing in China for three years, before making a return to the Premier League with a prestigious club like Man U. Everything seemed to be against me. However, when God decides to elevate you, He plucks you from obscurity and places you on high.”

“I can’t claim to understand how it all transpired. The hand of God was evident throughout. I cherished every moment of my one year at Manchester United, which undoubtedly stands as the pinnacle of my career.”

In January 2020, Ighalo made a loan move to Manchester United from Shanghai Shenhua in China, initially until the conclusion of the 2019–20 season. The loan spell was later extended until January 2021.
