Kingsley Moghalu on Emir Muhammadu Sanusi’s Reinstatement

In 2020, the removal of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II was deemed an extreme abuse of power, according to former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu.

Sanusi’s reinstatement, as reported by NewsNow, followed the passage of a bill by the State House of Assembly on Thursday.

In a recent post, Moghalu expressed his excitement over Sanusi’s reappointment as the 16th Emir of Kano, stating that the previous injustice had now been corrected.

Moghalu commended Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and the state legislature for their actions, emphasizing the need for a new Nigerian Constitution to protect traditional rulers like Sanusi from arbitrary removals.

He shared, “I’m delighted by the reinstatement of my friend, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, as the 16th Emir of Kano. The removal of Sanusi in 2020 was a clear abuse of power, and I thank Governor @Kyusufabba and the Kano State Legislature for making amends. This historic event underscores the necessity of safeguarding our cultural heritage against political whims.”
