In the health sector, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has expressed his administration’s alignment with the Federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. This alignment aims to enhance access to quality healthcare delivery in the state.

During a visit from the Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr. Salma Ibrahim, and her team, Otti emphasized the mutual objectives shared between Abia and the Federal Government in the realm of health. He stressed the collaborative effort towards a common goal despite political differences.

Otti remarked, “We have embraced the Federal government’s renewed hope agenda, aligning our interests with theirs. Our objectives are parallel, driving us towards the same purpose, even if we belong to different political parties.”

Highlighting his administration’s healthcare achievements, Otti mentioned a substantial budget for healthcare, the restoration of accreditation for Abia State University Teaching Hospital, settlement of health workers’ salaries, and efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality rates.

The Governor affirmed his willingness to cooperate with the Federal Government to ensure quality healthcare services for the people.

Dr. Salma Ibrahim, in her address, urged for a partnership between Abia and the Federal Government to expedite the transformation initiatives in the health sector outlined in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

She emphasized the need for continuous efforts to reduce maternal and child mortality rates in the country, assuring Federal government support for Abia State’s health policies. Dr. Ibrahim commended Otti for a 15% increase in the healthcare budget allocation.
