Eguavoen: Finidi to Collaborate with Local Players in Super Eagles Team

According to Augustine Eguavoen, the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Super Eagles head coach Finidi George will be working closely with players from the domestic league.

Prior to his current role, Finidi managed Enyimba, the champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

In the past, there have been consistent complaints about the lack of attention given to home-based players in the national team.

Eguavoen has assured that the new technical team will provide equal opportunities to both local players and those based abroad.

During the unveiling of the new Super Eagles coach, Eguavoen stated, “A certain percentage of players from the local league will always be included in the Super Eagles squad.”

It is reported that four local players will be selected to join the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
