Approval Granted: N96.3bn for Constructing Bus Terminals and Other FCT Projects

During a meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu, the Federal Executive Council sanctioned a total of N96,297,056,103 towards the development of bus terminals and transportation facilities in the nation’s capital, amongst other projects.

This financial allocation also encompasses the contract given to Maessr Planet Project Limited for building the Court of Appeal’s Abuja Division, along with contracts for security operations and maintenance of backup generators for streetlights along Presidential routes and Villa Gate 8 in the Federal Capital City. Additionally, it covers the enhancement of roads in Kwali Area Council.

Mrs. Mariya Mahmood, the FCT Minister of State, disclosed that all necessary procurement processes had been diligently followed, and no objection certificates for these contracts had been duly obtained.

She disclosed, “The initial approval pertains to the development of bus terminals and transportation facilities in the Federal Capital Territory. The subsequent approval is for constructing the Court of Appeal in Abuja Division. Another approval is for managing security operations and maintaining backup generators for streetlights along presidential routes and Villa Gate 8. Lastly, the fourth approval is for upgrading the Koita-Igbu Road in Kwali Area Council. The procurement procedures have been diligently followed, and no objection certificates have been secured for all awarded contracts.”

Breaking down the financials, Mrs. Mahmood explained, “The first contract worth N51,025,172,424.90 was granted to Messers Planet Project Limited. The second, worth N37,259,513,881.14, was awarded to Visible Construction Limited. The upgrade of Kwali-Ibu road, priced at N7.6 billion, was assigned to El Emad Nigeria Limited. Concerning the generator and security maintenance, two components were detailed in the memo.”

She further added, “The security operations and backup generator maintenance, valued at N412,352,800 million, were allocated to Messiah Contract People Limited.”

Furthermore, the Federal Executive Council endorsed a proposal to utilize the substantial long-term N20 trillion pension and other funds in the country to promote economic growth through investments in infrastructure, housing, power, rails, roads, and technology initiatives.
