Justice S. M. Shuiabu of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State on Tuesday, February 14, granted bail to 87-Year-old Chief Nosakhare Osadolor Odomore and Obazee Henry in the sum of N3million each and a surety in like sum.
The sureties are to depose an affidavit of means and deposit a
refundable sum of N1 million each with the court registrar pending the
determination of the case.
Odomore and his co-traveller were arraigned on 6th of
February 2023 by the Benin Zonal Command of the Commission on a two count
charge of uttering and forgery. They are alleged to have conspired to forged
titled documents of a landed property with intent to make it appear genuine.
Upon arraignment, the defendants pleaded not guilty prompting
the EFCC counsel, K.Y. Bello to pray the court to remand them at the
Correctional Facility pending the determination of their bail.
One of the counts reads: “that you, CHIEF NOSAKHARE OSADOLOR
ODOMORE, OBAZEE HENRY and KELVIN (AT LARGE) sometime in the year, 2020. at Ohen
Obaro Palace, Aduwawa, Benin City within the jurisdiction of Federal High
Court, did conspires amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: make a
document titled 'Plan showing landed property of Prince Nosakhare Osadolor
Odomore with Plan no.881:2004 purported to have been registered with Edo State
Geographic Information Service, which you knew to be false and thereby
committed an offence contrary to section 3(6) of the Miscellaneous offences Act
Cap M17 of the revised Edition/ Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) 2007 and
punishable under Section 3(1) (c) of the same Act”.
Another count reads, “that you, CHIEF NOSAKHARE OSADOLOR
ODOMORE,OBAZEE HENRY and KELVIN (AT LARGE) sometime in the year, 2020. at Ohen
Obaro Palace, Aduwawa, Benin City. Within the jurisdiction of Federal High
Court, did utter a forge document titled plan showing landed property of Prince
Nosakhare Osadolor Odomore with plan no.881:2004 to One Osayanrhion I. Ogbeiwi
and Salihu Haliru purported to have been issued or emanated from Edo State
Geographic Information Service, with intent that it may be acted upon as
genuine, the representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an
offence contrary to section 1 (2) (c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17
of the revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) 2007 and punishable
under Section 1(2) (c) of the same Act.”
