APC Never Promised To Keep Fuel Subsidy, Redesign Naira -El-Rufai

The governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) never promised to keep the fuel subsidy policy and redesign the naira.

He said this on Wednesday, when he was a guest on the morning show of Channels Television.

El-Rufai claimed that there was a difference between the decision of the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari  (retd.) and the manifesto of the party.

He said, “The president is not on the ballot. The president has his tenure up to 29th May.  He may not want to remove subsidy.  If you look at our manifesto, we never promised to keep petroleum subsidy, we never did. Our party never promised to redesign the currency. It’s not on our manifesto.

“You need to separate the personal decisions of some people in the villa from the manifesto of the party. It is important to understand that."

Asked if there is a division between the people in the (Aso Rock) villa and members of the government, who are also party members, he responded, “Most of them are not (APC members). That’s what’s interesting.”

Probed further about division between those around the president and those within the party, he said, “I believe there are elements in the villa that want us to lose the election because they didn’t get their way.”
